This workshop shows four Demos as "Floating Memories", "Pukuon ", "Info. scape" , "VR Pien Chung".
"Floating Memories" shows the relationship between reality and the digital memory of that reality. Digital technology is changing our perception of reality and time and how to interact within this reality. This interactive installation gives users experience these shifting memories of time.
"Pukuon" is a series of inventions that aim to create new musical space which can be used for healing or as experiments to investigate the sounds of humans.
"Info. scape" is a research of an interface for the element which constitutes space physically like a wall, or a floor and furniture acting as a part of information environment, and carrying out suitable input and output in various situation, such as not the existing input-and-output devices but physical behavior, position information£¬and individual ID information. Moreover, wider possibilities of the application using the interface are explored.
"VR Pien Chung" based on the virtual reality technology performs a musical piece by using a digital archive of Chinese bronze bells- Pien Chung. This research used the VR Pien Chung as a musical instrument and added performance functions that extend the capabilities of the original Pien Chung bells. The relationships between a performer and an instrument are very complex. The performer strives to explore and express musician ideas and feelings by way of a dialogue between musician and the instrument.
